Sketching

Everything I see and experience can become a source of inspiration.

I usually do quick sketches first, then I start to work with clay.

Working with clay

I do both hand building and wheel throwing.

Every process is done by hand.

Carving the design

The designs are all hand carved.
Carving is a meditative moment and gives me a deeper connection to clay.
Each line I carve is a prayer for peace and appreciation.
It also feels like I am being united with the energy of the world
and interpreting that beautiful energy into clay.

Firing

These are works that have been bisque fired.
After glazing, they go through another firing.

Final Stage

Finished works.

The designs are all original, mostly inspired by love, nature, animals, travel,
and the life force that is present in the world.

制作工程のお話

作品の制作は、スケッチから入ることが多いです。

その後作品に合わせて、ろくろか手びねりか決めます。

成形が完了したら、模様を彫ります。

彫る線や模様の一つ一つが、感謝と平和の祈りのような気持ちで彫っています。

世界に溢れる生命力の一部になって、

その力を粘土に伝えているような、

瞑想のような感覚です。

作品はだいたい2-3回焼成を行い、完成となります。
